Modular Furniture Series 4: Sickbay Set 1

Cualli tonaltin, all. Once again, my imagination has gotten away from me. What started as just a few biobeds has become a 4-part journey. In the next few weeks, I'll be uploading several massive sickbay projects for both the Modular Furniture Series 4 and Tools Series 2 projects. This set includes several unique biobeds and their attachments, some regeneration tanks, and a posebox. It gets a bit photo-heavy, and I apologize for that. There are 30 new pieces in this set (not counting the posebox hack and import). The set includes:

As always, I have spent massive amounts of time playtesting this set. I tested each object individually, and hammered out all the kinks. As far as I've seen, there are no glitches and everything works exactly as it should as far as slave textures, joint alignment, placement, etc. Please feel free to report any issues.

A few notes about the project: Series 4 is a bit of a misnomer. Prior to this set, I've only made two other modular furniture sets. But as it complements the Cargo Bay Series 4 set, it seemed incongruent to name it Series 3. Unless otherwise noted, objects are base-game (See more specific descriptions below).

The focus of this set is to create realistic biobiobeds and regeneration tanks for sickbays and infirmaries. The furniture is designed to be stacked together, giving your sickbays a built-in look, for more realistic sets and backdrops. This set can be mixed and matched with any other sets from Modular Furniture Series 4. As I am more of a storyteller/ dollhouser than an actual player, my main focus was on how good the objects look in-game, but they have been thoroughly playtested and work well for players who focus on gameplay, too.

Please read carefully: The single bed and utility chair from the crew quarters set and the 3x1 panel from Bridge Set 1 provide some of the master textures for this set. As the repository technique is used, I have included the repository objects so you don't get flashing blue textures in your game. To keep the size of the file reasonable, THE RECOLORS FOR THESE THREE OBJECTS AREN'T INCLUDED. They can be downloaded from the RECOLORS THREAD.

Note: all files have been Compressorized.

Biobed A

A deco biobed, of the type found on Galaxy-class and Defiant-class starships. The base is a 3x1 sculpture, and the attachments are place-anywhere objects that can be stacked on top of it. The closed surgical carriage and extreme trauma carriage play special effects when your sims activate them.

Details:
Catalog: Seating/ Beds. Base §1000, patient monitor §200, extreme trauma carriage §600, surgical carriage §400
Polys: Base 1163, patient monitor 924, extreme trauma carriage 1924, surgical carriage 292
Recolorable subsets: Base and matress (base), base and panel (patient monitor), base and pumps (extreme trauma carriage) base (surgical carriage)
Egghead stuff: The patient montior is the master object for all the biobed displays. It's animated, comes with a mongo 2048 x 2048 ultra-detailed texture (which I make no apologies for. I won't sacrifice texture quality for file size), and includes 14 recolors.
• The pumps on the extreme trauma carriage are animated and recolorable. The open carriage is the master object.
• The closed surgical carriage and closed extreme trauma carriage have been coded with BHAVs your sims can activate (Nothing special, just a few change material calls and playing sounds).

Biobed B

Another deco biobed, of the type used in Interpid-class and Sovereign-class sickbays. The bases are 3x1 sculptures, and the matress attachments, and wall panels are place-anywhere objects that can be stacked on top of them. The closed surgical carriage panels play special effects when your sims activate them.

Details:
Catalog: Seating/ Beds. Bases §1000, matress §150, surgical carriage panels §600, wall panels A,B and c §600, wall panels D and E §400
Polys: Patient bed base 156, Surgical bed base 160, matress 1292, surgical carriage panels 2016, Wall panel A 242, Wall panel B 384, Wall panel C 256, Wall panel D 36, Wall panel E 134
Recolorable subsets: Base and panels (bases), matress (matress), panel and indicator (surgical carriage panels), base and panel (wall panels)
Egghead stuff: Wall panel C is animated, and the LCARS texture is unique. It's recolorable, and I've included two recolors.
•The closed surgical carriage panels have been coded with BHAVs your sims can activate (Nothing special, just a few change material calls and playing sounds). The effect is easier to see with the glass recolors (included). The open panels are the master object for both, and I've included 17 recolors.

Biobed C

A deco biobed, this one for smaller ships that don't have a lot of space to allocate to sickbays. This is a fold-down type biobed and I've included both the open and closed models. It uses the same matress as Biobed B.

Details:
Catalog: Seating/ Beds. §1000
Polys: Open 174, Closed 102
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: Just deco objects.

Biobed D

A stand-alone biobed base, similar to the type of biobed found in the infirmary at DS9. It uses the same matress as Biobed B. The base is a 3x1 sculpture, and the attachments are place-anywhere objects that can be stacked on top of it. The closed surgical carriage plays special effects when your sims activate it.

Details:
Price: Base §1000, surgical carriage §600
Polys: Base 424, surgical carriage 640
Recolorable subsets: Base
Egghead stuff: The closed surgical carriage panels have been coded with BHAVs your sims can activate (Nothing special, just a few change material calls and playing sounds).

Regeneration Tanks and Enzyme Therapy Tank

These are very special objects. The base unit is a 2x2 deco object that includes a special slot for stacking on the doors and posing sims. The open doors are just regular deco objects, designed to be placed in this slot. The closed doors and the top of the enzyme tank have special effects that can be activated by your sims.

Details:
Catalog: Electronics/ Misc. Standard base §3200, Enzyme therapy tank base §1000, deep tissue regenerator §1000, biotemporal chamber §1000, advanced cryonic containment chamber §1000, enzyme therapy tank upper §1000
Polys: Standard base 1645, enzyme therapy tank base 794, deep tissue regenerator 1540, biotemporal chamber 1964, advanced cryonic containment chamber 2628, enzyme therapy tank upper 794
Recolorable subsets: Base and panels
Egghead stuff: The base units have a slot at 0.500000, 0.500000, 0.350000 for placing the deco doors as well as posing sims.
• The closed doors have been coded with BHAVs your sims can activate (Nothing special, just a few change material calls, but they look awesome).

A few notes about effects:

When your sims click on the special objects, they can activate their effects. The carriages that attach to the biobeds have some cool animated effects and play a sound until the sims deactivate them. The regeneration chambers are similar, but don't have the sound effect. The deep tissue regenerator releases an animated pulse, the biotemporal chamber activates a quickly-moving chronoton field, the cryonic chamber glass frosts up, and the enzyme tank glass goes up and it fills with an animated liquid texture. This is how the effects look in-game:

Note: the biobed posebox has been removed from the download. I have redone the menu and updated two of the poses. The new version can be found HERE or HERE.

A few notes about poses:

The biobeds are strictly deco objects, so in order to get your sims to look right, you'll need Silent Lucidity's Shiftable OMSPs to position them. Unless otherwise noted, the sims should be snapped to the grid. The correct height for Biobed A is the 10 block, shifted six clicks up. For Biobed B, it's the 3 block, shifted seven clicks up. Biobed B Sitting Pose 2 clips slightly into the bed, but this can be fixed using boolprop snapObjectsToGrid false. The regeneration tank poses are slightly below ground because they're designed to be used with the regeneration tanks; they'll look wierd with anything else.

Here are a few images of the bridges I put together using these objects (some of the objects are from other object sets):

Here are the downloads. I've included a collection file for ease in locating the objects.

  2. Yeah. I've had a few things to take care of and I had a bout of creator's block for a couple of months, but now I'm back and working on this massive 4-part sickbay set. Enjoy.

  3. The doors are still missing from the regeneration tanks and none of the enzyme tanks stuff show up! Totally, lame and you should not false advertise Would like to enjoy killer your creations myself? Not asking much!

  4. This is a screen capture taken of the contents of the .rar file I downloaded from the above Box link five minutes ago:
    https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ZrTt1hmrU94/VIkHyAVb9mI/AAAAAAAAV8A/EgDlhdZJ83E/w1154-h485-no/Captcha.jpg

As you can see, all of the necessary files are contained in the folder. You are the only person ever to report this issue. The contents appear correctly in my game, in the categories and price ranges mentioned in the above post. I'm not sure what you're referring to as 'false advertising', but this is not a technical issue; if you've followed the instructions in the post the contents should appear correctly in your game. I don't have time to provide technical support for non-issues because (SURPRISE) I'm using the time I have available to create new content. Please follow the directions in the post.

  5. I can't wait to see the effects ingame! I am very excited about all your wonderful creations, especially the Regeneration and Enzyme Tanks!

Just a side note: I did get a message when I extracted that 2 of the filenames were too long. So I shortened the name of the folder, and it was fine. Other than a filename issue, everything extracted correctly. Thank you! :)

    1. This was a fun set to make, and I'm still surprised how great the special effects work. I'll have to go back and look at the file names when I get home, but yeah, some of the descriptions are kind of long.

But why does the bed B patient is a deco and not functionable ? Is it impossible to do ?

    1. Hello, it's ankoyume.

I can't post comments anymore on the Blue Heaven pose box's thread, so I post here : sorry to disturb you, just reply me to stop harrassing you, so I can know I've to stop hopping and trying to contact you.

      COMMENT :

I'm quite happy to have found a project that I seem to succeed in, so thanks to answer me.
I decided to use the mattress only in order to keep all the recolorable subset. I just have to add an option to the bed, so that the doctor or nurse "make the patient's bed" (create a mattress on top of it).

My relax interaction is not weird because I've added the pillow subset to the mesh, and I think the glinches are barely noticeable (we can see your moving pillow underneath ; on the surgical bed it floats a little). My solution are : removing the pillow in your mesh (but I've never meshed before ...) and make the surgical bed on wall only.
Moreover, I've made the BioBed B carriage openable ! And it keeps the sounds and visual effects. I will try to link it to the bed (like for the mattress : "Turon on the scan" interaction).

Last the main problem of this project : the sleep interaction. I think I could find a way to add your poses on the bed (the omsp won't be needed anymore, if I succeed), but I still can't download the files. Moreover, anytime I've downloaded your stuffs, it was by mediafire, because box have never worked for me ... In addition, it will work only approximately because I only have Blender and it can't import Sims 2 files. Unless you provide me with the .smd and/or .ms3d files...
With your box I could even add an interaction with the patient sitting and being examined by the doctor.

      Hoping you'll have this,
      Ankoyume.
